mad cat & Life Way & kids ministry
I caught Joey climbing up the curtain in the lounge this morning. He got almost all the way up, like he could have touched the ceiling. He was quite hypo this morning. His moods swing a lot.nyway, enough about cats, I'm heading up to Life Way tomorrow for Marching Orders! I'm kinda really excited. It's always good to catch up with people that I haven't seen all year, and meet the new intake. I particularly enjoy catching up with others that do kids ministry... Compare notes on the new Hillsong Kids CD... and glean glean glean. Should be good times.
Man kids church totally rocked on Sunday. I've found that no matter how prepared or unprepared we are, what makes the difference is the attitude that the leaders go in with. I was totally unprepared last Sunday, but I was so convinced that we were going to have a time where the kids really met with God, and a fun enjoyable time together. We totally did. There was a happy kinda buzz in the air. And yep, even though the CD player manifested (as it does on Sundays and only Sundays) we had a really good chill with God time.
My concept of what Kids Church should look like changes slightly every week.
We really need to provide a space where kids can meet with God, then show them how to take that into their every day life. You don't get that anywhere else. Sadly a lot of Christian families don't even really teach to their kids what it means to have a relationship with God. Some do, and they do it well, but others leave it up to chance. Perhaps thinking they don't want pressure their kids into something.
Well, my parents did an excellent job of showing us what it's like the be a Christian, the good times and the hard times. And look at us now, 3 kids, all involved in ministry in some way. It's impossible not to teach a belief system to your kids. If its not the ways of God then it's something else.
Well, I'm sure I'll have plenty to say when I get back!
