My chewing gum is loosing it's flavor.
Yesterday we trialed a sign in desk for kids church in the foyer before church. We had 18 kids turn up to the program, but only 10 of them had arrived before the end of the first song, and two were visiting kids, which means that almost half of our families turn up at least 5 minutes late to church.
So it didn't really cut down on the time we spend in Kids Church handing out name tags, but it was really good for making contact with kids before church, especially for kids that were visiting. I think they may have been more inclined to come out to the program when they knew where it was and that they were invited.
It also raises the profile of kids church to the rest of the church community, when they see that we value kids enough to make them feel like they belong there from the minuite they walk in the door.
