Childhood memories
Recently I've thought a lot about how much childhood experiences effect the rest of a childs life. A child learns to trust as an infant. If Im hungry I'll be fed. If I'm stinky my nappy will get changed. When I'm in these arms I know I'm safe.
But when that trust is broken all sorts of bad things happen to the kids mind. They get confused about what is normal. Often they will either have no memories from their childhood of have only bad ones.
The world is getting more and more unsafe for kids. So many homes are the most dangerous place to be, they should be that safest.
Someone at conference was talking about giving kids a week of good memories at a camp. We arn't able to take them out of their situation, change their parents, give them more money or what ever, but we can give them the chance to have fun, where they know that they are loved and special to God.
This is one reason why kids ministry is so important. If we can give kids good memories it will go with them the rest of their life. Maybe it will be what leads them to Jesus when they are older.
